Walk the Line

05th March 2015

Weather permitting, we’ll be organising another one of our popular hikes, visiting some of the most beautiful and less touristy areas in Malta. This time, we’re heading towards the Victoria Lines: A 13 kilometre linear network of fortifications that run along the width of Malta, from sea to sea, dividing the north from the south. Also known as the Great Wall of Malta, this fortification was built in the late 19th Century by the British military as an impassable barrier which would prevent attack on Valletta and the Grand Harbour from enemy invasion.

The walk starts from the eastern village of Madliena through Mosta, Binġemma and the limits of Rabat, taking you through military fortifications, farms and valleys and even churches perched inside caves. There are also several lookout points which provide panoramic views over the coast and countryside.

Since we’re dependant on the weather, we can’t put an exact date to it, but you can email us on info@bohohostel.com to be included in our event’s mailing list.

Travellers residing in other hostels or hotels are more than welcome to join. Duration is around 5 hours in total, including rest periods and picnic.

Meeting time 10am at Boho Hostel. Cost- transportation costs.
